ILUMINA ZABELÊ is a solar and renewable energy project curated by Rafael Lorran with Coletivo Levanta Zabelê.
The goal is to bring a solar energy system to the Ancestral Research Study Center of Aldeia Zabelê and to the people who live there, directly impacting over 10,500 people across the territory. An executive fundraising project so that, very soon, the center can operate with a quality energy system, autonomously and sustainably.
Deep in the forest of Bahia, Brazil, the Tupinambá de Olivença Indigenous People have built an Ancestral Research Center in Aldeia Zabelê, a living space for culture, knowledge, and community sovereignty. But the center has no stable electrical grid.
With solar energy, the center can operate beyond daylight hours, preserve food and medicine, host researchers, and stay connected year-round.
