Queen Of Boipeba - A Fight For Respect | Directed by Rafael Lorran
Some stories are born from the ground beneath our feet and refuse to stay there. Queen Of Boipeba - A Fight For Respect is a short film rooted in the salt air and red earth of Ilha de Boipeba, Bahia, Brazil, where a quiet but fierce resistance has long been alive. Directed by Rafael Lorran, the film captures the spirit of those who fight for dignity in the margins not with silence, but with presence.
What began as a deeply local story crossed oceans. The film was selected to be part of the official catalog of the Barcelona Queer Film Festival, bringing its message of resistance and identity to an international stage  a bridge built between the coast of Bahia and the streets of Barcelona. Before reaching Europe, the film was screened twice in Bahia, connecting with the very community that inspired it, proving that the most powerful stories travel not in spite of where they come from, but because of it.
